Special populations

The term 'Special populations' as it applies to the area of hazardous materials can be defined as 'People who might be more sensitive or susceptible to exposure to hazardous substances because of factors such as age, occupation, sex, or behaviors (for example, cigarette smoking). Children, pregnant women, and older people are often considered special populations'.

The term 'Special populations' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' Those individuals or groups that may be institutionalized and have needs that require special consideration in emergencies'.
